Yeah you probably have another week with the broken braille screen input since we’re still on the two week cycle with the developer beta. They will move to a one week cycle once the beta goes public and we hit early to mid August. It could be a little longer than two weeks since this upcoming weekend is July 4 and some of the people might take a long extended weekend, so the next developer beta might not be until Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. But that does totally suck when a quality of life method of typing is out of order.

You might really like the FloType keyboard. A lot of of us are using it and it’s really good. There’s even a WhatsApp group where we all discuss it because it’s still technically in beta but the keyboard makes it possible to type super fast. There’s probably 60 or 70 of us on the beta group. And the developer Rocco is extremely good and keeps up with it and pushes out updates almost every day. He’s blind just like we are, so this is much different and a lot better than the flex keyboard ever was. If you’re interested I’ll post the TestFlight link out here which you can subscribe to and don’t even have to be approved. Then you can poke around on it and see if that might be a good substitute for you while you wait for the braille screen input to get fixed.

This keyboard really is nice and you can master it in about half a day if you choose to. Then you can be right back in the typing game as Apple will probably take their sweet time getting braille screen input working with a new version. Something like that could take a couple of beta updates to get ironed out.

So when I went to grab the TestFlight link to share on my post there was an update waiting for me which you should have now as well and it mentions landscape and portrait in there in a new setting, not sure if this is what you’re looking for but it might be. I know they were discussing what you were talking about earlier in the WhatsApp group yesterday. This is a very active app and you’re going to get at least one update per day a lot of the time. Things that we discuss and report on the WhatsApp group often get fixed that same night.

I knew about braille screen input for years, but I never could wrap my mind around why someone would want to type that way. Then I was on Clubhouse one day and I overheard someone using it to reply to a text they had received. Then I was hooked when I saw how fast you could type. So I spent a couple of weeks with it and got pretty fast. I like FloType because it only requires one finger. So I’ve been using that a lot as of late.
