I agree. No offense to some of those people out there that like these voices, but I personally find some of the voices really annoying, especially Samantha and Alex. I’d love for there to be a two finger double tap feature that could just do this!
I was really thinking that Ramblio 2.0 would address this issue one I was really thinking that Ramblio 2.0 would address this issue once and for all. It can be so annoying because people will often fumble with their screen reader for 30 seconds or so before they even get started with what they’re going to talk about. They’ve got to go back-and-forth several times to make sure there were they think they wanna be before they even start talking and it’s so freaking annoying.

Yeah. Again, not trying to judge here, but imagine going through peoples rambles, and having to hear those voices with their screen reader, when I just wanna hear, them, directly. Ugh those voices get on my nerves! Some of them I can tolerate, but others, sorry but no.

If you’re going to fumble around with voiceover, why not do that once you are finished seeing what you’re going to say. When you hit the record button that’s your turn to speak not the screen reader. Once you’re done speaking you can do all the fumbling you need to do and people have already heard what you have to say so they can just move on at that point u

Exactly. Not that it’s a big deal to me, but I’d like to not have voiceover getting in the way.

Um, I think that’s the thing he’s referring to.

Oh by the way, James, since you use Tom, perhaps you might be interested in a post that I previously did about the actual person behind Tom. And if anyone else is interested, feel free to check it out if you’d like. I made it a little while ago.

You already can do this in V2.

And of course, I’ll continue to write and put my content through Eleven Labs, that’s definitely different. There just needs to be a better way to record so that voiceover just doesn’t get in the way.

Just magic tap to pause recording

I’ve never done that before. How does it work?

In my earlier comment, it’s in V2

Well damn! I had no idea we were going to be throwing the curveball where the beta would be available to pay members. I’ve been testing this thing since the very beginning. The only reason I never paid for this is because it can’t be done through my Apple account and I’m just so accustomed to paying for apps through the App Store for some reason. But hopefully the new version will go out either to the App Store or to the rest of us TestFlight tester soon.

It will go to the public test list soon; paid users have early access.

That definitely makes sense and that’s what I was hoping what happened. That would be cool if paid members got like a 24 hour jump ahead of everybody else or something like that.

Being perfectly honest, unlike Gordon, I’m somewhat confused by this move. If paying members are given access to a new version of Ramblio before its been beta tested in my opinion, this negates the need for beta testers to exist. Releasing a new version of an app to folks who are paying subscribers makes them in a sense; beta testers. Maybe a solution would be to have as a prerequisite to being a beta tester; you need to be a paying subscriber first.

I can definitely understand why he did this. This is a whole new version and probably the most feature Rich packed version since Ramblio first came out. So he surprised the paid users with access to it first. So just a little something special for them.

@Gordon: Apparently our focus is different and I’m good with that. Your focus seems to be on access and as such you could understand releasing this latest version to paid users first. I on the other hand am looking at the process which focuses on the premise that a new version being beta tested should be done prior to being released to the general public; paid or not.

The next round won't go to the general public. It will be pushed to the general test flight group.

Yes, that’s what I figured was probably going on here. 2.0 is a whole new version, yesterday was a holiday so they paid members got surprised with being able to have it first.

Thank you Josh

@Josh S: Actually, you might consider having only paid users as beta testers. This could potentially incentivize folks to consider a paid subscription simply for access to the betas.

I sometimes idly wonder how much storage space is taken up by people fumbling around to find the stop button. 😂
