This is real and legitimate, but it’s also sketchy as hell. I actually did a story about this last year because of privacy laws and two party states versus one party states and the fact that even if you delete the app if you don’t delete your account you could still be recorded if someone with the app call you through the app. I never did a follow up investigation but I do know that it was taken off-line for a good while and I guess now it’s back. So it’s real, but just sketchy as hell. And information is most definitely being sold.

I went back and looked at my notes pertaining to this and there were some prosecutions from people in one party states calling people and two party states and not notifying them that recording was taking place. In the terms and conditions of this app you as the collar are on the hook for this. If you call someone else in a one party state you don’t have to tell them that recording is taking place, but should you call someone from a two party state you do and can be held legally responsible and especially in this case because data is being sold. So you have to make sure you inform everyone that recording is taking place but most importantly those and two party states. There’s probably other less intrusive ways to make money.

I’m not illegal professional, but I disagree Gordon. The cooler wouldn’t be on the hook because they didn’t design the app, they’re not the one who’s initiating the recording feature, all they’re doing is making a call through the app. So they’re not intentionally pressing record they didn’t design the app to have that function. So I don’t think the person would be on the hook. And I don’t think the person using the app would need to disclose it. It’s recording because again they didn’t create the app. It’s up to the other person who downloads the app to read the terms and conditions, and to understand what neon is about.

So again, how can someone who’s using an app that records conversations be legally responsible when they’re not in control of the recording feature? They are not the designers of the app. They’re simply just a participant. And again the only other way the other person can communicate with that person through the app is to download it so it’s that person’s responsibility to read the terms and conditions and understand what they are downloading and what it does and what it’s used for. Ignorance is not an excuse.

The data is being sold. To me that is a problem. And who knows what they are doing with this day-to-day collective people’s voices? Can you really trust AI not to use those voices is part of its training and how to better itself in using the language and that kind of thing and the fact that you can’t delete your account and that other people can still record your voice if they call through the app that’s that’s a red flag. For me my advice to myself is stay away from it. Stay away from it all together.

I honestly take issue with you coming over here and promoting what sounds like a scam designed to steal your voice so that scammers can then use those AI voices that they are getting for very cheap, to then scam other people. Wow, just think about all the free voice cloning they are getting and you don't know that they aren't doing that. I really wish that you had been promoting a sex line. That would've been a bit more legit and felt less scummy of you. It's definitely a ethical gray area to come and promote something Like this out here. Especially in light of recent privacy leaks. So yeah, I would really question your street smarts getting involved in something like this and then turning around and trying to get other people involved. Seriously, make sure you know what your credit score and stuff is looking like because you seem prime for some other scammer to steal your identity. Stay safe

It’s amazing how many blind psychics we have. Honestly, without reviewing or researching the app or even reading its manifest, peepps already know that the app and the person who informed you about it are up to no good. A simple, “thanks” or, “no thanks, but appreciate the share” would at least encourage others to do the same, rather than making them feel as if they were a crimminal in cahoots with a rogue app. Folks really need to stop blaming messengers for sharing and do more than criticizing without receipts.
