I pay for two different virtual private servers, both on Linode. One for my personal website and a few services, the other four IRC and Mumble chat servers. I went with Linode because while basically every VPS provider will give you SSH access, Linode is pretty much the only major provider that gives me a recovery console over SSH. All the other major providers give you a recovery console that is not accessible. For my domain names I use Easy DNS because they are an actual domain name registrar instead of a reseller, they have been in business since 1998, they have an actual phone number that you can call though I've never needed to use it, and their control panel gives me all the advanced features and hasn't been changed pretty much since the 2000s, meaning it's accessible. Not to mention, easy DNS is a pro freedom of speech provider and has put their money where their mouth is. For email hosting tied to my domain name, I use MX Route.
