What if a parent or parents of a blind child shelter their blind child so much that this kid grows up and literally can not live without adult sighted daily assistance? You talk about safety! That is a dam shame because they become defenceless adults. Just for clarification they have no other disabilities and are cognitaively normal and have no intelectual disability. That is bonkers! that we have actual blind adults in our communities like this.

Yes, there does need to be a good realistic balance between protecting your children while allowing them to experiencing certain things like your bicycle example. Great points! But, its seems in our community that balance does not exist. Its either your sheltered tremendously, or your just throan into situations that cause you to have to get up and deal with that scraped knee with little guidance.
