A textbook example of the differences between conservatives and liberals

I never registered as a member of any party, but I've voted dem for most of my life by happenstance. That said though, I wish I knew how to get a great many liberals to recognize how much things have changed in that party in recent years. I remember it as a "sky's the limit" environment, where possibilities were embraced before they were questioned. Of course both extremes have their risks, but now I know the liberal side as the source of cancelations and silencing, starting in 2019 or so at least where I could see it. Any platform whose strength is based on spreading fear mor than on spreading good ideas will never achieve true majority rule, because people innately hate control by fear. It has been said that overzealous parents produce sneaky children. I say, overzealous parties produce silent and sneaky majorities.

I vote when I have something clear to say. When I don't, I don't. I do though accept another Rush addage: "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."

For me, while I definitely value things like family, morals, and traditions, I also believe that change and modernization are really important for growth. I don't think the two are opposing sides at all. They actually work well together. If we only looked backward without ever changing, things would get stuck, but if we only focused on new things without respecting our roots, we'd lose our stability. So, I feel like finding a balance between the two is what makes life really stable and meaningful

I sure do agree with the sentiment. I think we're all just working out how to decide what's not enough, too much, or inbetween, during a massive amount of change in many areas at once. Even the long-term stability previously given to us by things like peer-reviewed papers and long-term studies are being unseated by some of those changes. So I continue to look for things that don't change just because we do; and figuratively and sometimes literally, I find things like that on the ground.

People’s responses to Babylon‘s rant have nothing to do with being either liberal or conservative. Those are just bumper sticker labels that are at this point fucking meaningless! Because if you’re gonna go that route, to me being a conservative equals being a pedophile protector. Lol.

Republican versus democrat, liberal versus conservative, left-wing versus right wing, progressive versus moderate, and on and on and on. The most widely overlooked word in these phrases is verses. This is the basis of the group think mentality. Ascribe yourself to a particular group, and then try to elevate your group while putting the other group down. Why can’t the conversation be about a particular issue or topic where individuals can express their viewpoints instead of their groups particular viewpoints. Just a thought.

I think you accidentally encapsulated my subconscious, long-term reason for not establishing myself in either political party. I'll pledge allegiance to an idea or group when it appears consistently to align with me maybe; but political parties are collection points for ideas, not themselves ideas in practice. There is no reason I can see to assume that a collection point like that will always align with me.

@Doug, yeah, and to highlight it further with a recent conversation I had with one of these group thinkers. I told him, why do I need to talk to a republican, democrat, liberal, conservative, left-winger, right winger, progressive, moderate, or any other group label you want to give yourself, I can just go to your groups website and Reid what your thoughts and feelings are. social, political, and regulatory issues and needs evolve and change overtime, and an individuals viewpoint can evolve with those changes, I have yet to see a group evolve in any good meaningful way.

I wasn't talking about labels or what's on a group's website. Go listen to the comments under Babalon's post. One side tells her she's a victim and the cards are stacked against her. The other side says yeah, it's hard, but have you tried this, you can get through it. That difference, in how people talk to somebody who's struggling, that's the whole point.

Once again, the way people responded to Babylon has nothing to do with being either liberal or conservative. Those labels are meaningless. People's responses were based on their own life experience and how they happen to approach life and its challenges as a whole. Their are lots of people who call themselves conservative out here in these blind streets that do not problem solve and are quick to take a handout, while there are people who some might consider liberal who do the exact opposite.

I've literally heard people who label themselves as conservatives bitching about imigrants, because they were blaming imigrants for fucking up the handouts from the government that they depend on. But Jesus loves you. LOL!
