Today? A party where the value is about profit over people. I could go on and on about how they support unnecessary hierarchy, and they seem to really like the government doing things for them, even though they claim they want small government. It’s a very different outlook from, say, parties that think the state is harmful, like anarchism or communism that frequently critique the government and the state but ultimately I genuinely think it’s a party of confusion.

I guess the party defines itself through its platform and actions. Your friend is talking about a fundamental contradiction, right? It reminds me of that town hall where Republicans were shouting “keep the government hands off my Medicare“
