I’m sorry you had such a crap experience. I’m assuming that this was Turkish Airlines that you were flying with? Yeah, they are, let’s just say, pretty awful when it comes to dealing with people with disabilities. Ignorant, and not knowledgeable at all, and frustratingly have not improved on that even one bit in all these years. I can say that having traveled with them previously, and having had a similarly unpleasant experience. Let’s just say that I was so frustrated and disgusted by them that I literally canceled my return flights with them, lost a whole bunch of money while doing so but I didn’t care. I refused to travel with them again and chose a different airline. My advice, I know that they might be cheaper to fly with in certain situations, and even more convenient in terms of layovers and all. But it’s really not worth it. Choose a different airline. All that said, this is based on an assumption that you were indeed traveling with Turkish Airlines. If you weren’t, well, all of this is basically not applicable, LOL! Glad to know that you made it to Birmingham UK safely and are in a much better state and mood now!

Hi all. Thanks for the lovely comments. Yes, I'm safely here, and loving the cold. I'm no longer a miserable person to be around lol. ┃

Sounds like it was a stressful trip, but I hope you made it safely to Birmingham, though to be fair you may end up wishing you’d stayed in South Africa.

Safe travels! 😊.

Wow that sounds like quite the adventure. Safe travels.

I’m so sorry you were treated like some sort of pet on that flight, I’ve never experienced such levels of ignorance while flying

Safe travels! It’s not a proper airport trip if you don’t sprint partway 🙃

I will go to many lengths to avoid having exorbitant layovers. I'm more than 2 thirds there, so I consider this a win.

Hang in there. :) I also dislike many aspects of traveling including long layovers.
