I just thought of another perk too for audio books: multitasking. Like Graphic Audio novels, for e.g., are popular among truck drivers who work long hours and can entertain themselves by listening to audio books while on the road.

Chrysalis also makes an excellent point. Audio books also benefit persons with learning disabilities

Quite agree, Hot Coffee. If I'm listening to an audio book when someone asks what I'm doing. I simply respond that I'm reading.

chrysalis… Quite interesting to hear that the human brain wasn’t created to read. I’ve never heard that before. I’d have to agree with you Estrella that reading with your eyes and reading Braille with your fingers is different from listening to a book, but I too still consider all of them forms of reading. Throughout the years, I’ve learned that, in addition to blind people with learning disabilities, there are also some blind people who are unable to read Braille. They may have gone blind due to neurological diseases that caused nerve damage and a loss of dexterity in their hands, or they may have diabetes that has led to neuropathy in their fingertips, making it difficult or even impossible for them to read Braille. so yes, soak it up whichever way you can. Life‘s too short to worry about how people absorb their information.
