I have actually had blind people tell me that the liquid level indicators are more sanitary than using one of your fingers. I just have to laugh at something like that, because a lot of the people that I've known of that use those liquid level indicators don't thoroughly wash the prongs between each use. They had those ridiculous things down at the blind school, and I saw people use them all the time and never clean the prongs. Or if they didn't clean the prongs, they would just rinse them off, not thoroughly wash them like they would wash their hands.

Oh and people afraid of burning their hands on hot liquids; how could I have forgotten that one - that was my first assumed use of those things. I guess I play close to fire and don't mind if I singe myself slightly now and then lol.

Yes, I can definitely understand using something like that for boiling water, because it doesn't make the same sound as other liquids. So whatever you are filling up could be full and about to overflow, and you really wouldn't know just by sound.

When it comes to sound, it also has a lot to do with the type of cup that you're filling up. With a plastic cup the sound often doesn't change as much. This definitely applies to the thicker plastic cups.

@Greg I do the "sizzle test," as I like to call it, also, touching hot things with a wet hand. We just have to make sure they're above boiling or they'll bite back with no sound lol.
