Or in other cases, similar to Malcolm in the Middle, an epilogue type couple of episodes to see how storylines or characters are doing after the series finale

That’s a good one Franchise. I would add that the shows that are Notorious for having disappointing series finales would b good choices for trying to fix it with a final final couple of episodes. 2 that come to mind are Seinfeld and of course Game of Thrones…
