We had a woman here a few years back who had taken her three kids to the swimming pool in the apartment complex where she lived. She was so busy texting her boyfriend on her phone that she did not notice that all three of her kids drowned in the swimming pool just a few feet away from where she was sitting. One kid went under, so the second kid went under to try to save him, then the third went under to try to save the other two. All of this happened while she was sitting right there but she wasn't paying attention. That would have never happened with a blind parent because we're not stupid enough to let our kids all go in the pool while we're texting and not in the pool with them. And we blind people would take additional precautions just to make sure everybody had a safe experience. But we blind people are a lot more aware of our surroundings and we don't just take things for granted. We know better.

My god! I’ve heard similar stories. As I’ve said, I always take safety seriously.
