The media likes to stir up hysteria about things because it gets interaction from people. Those same Uber drivers also deliver entire bags of easily tampered with food, but as of yet, I've not heard anyone think of making the accusation that there might be drugs in the Taco Bell burritos. It reminds me of when I was growing up and they had all the hysteria amongst the mothers on Halloween that people might be putting razor blades in the kids candy, so they would take the candy to have it be x-rayed, like people were going to take the time to buy expensive razor blades, unwrap candy, carefully insert razor blades into candy, package the candy back up, and distribute it. Not saying it's impossible that someone somewhere at one point in time might've done that, but it certainly wasn't happening on mass, and the chances of it happening to the children were basically zero. Yet I remember all the mothers in my small town confiscating all the candy until it could be x-rayed. I've rode in Lyft and Uber many times, multiple times a week for the last 10 years, and I don't think I've ever had anyone offer me food or water. If they did though, I would refuse, because I don't accept gifts from strangers and especially from people I'm paying to perform a service, but it wouldn't even cross my mind that they were putting drugs worth more than the ride itself in the food. If they wanted to rob me or whatever, I'm already in their car, they can see I'm blind, and it's very easy to get your hands on a weapon. The risk of getting into a car with a stranger is that you got into a car with a stranger, not that that stranger might give you a bottle of water.
