Since you’ve read some sci-fi, I would recommend the gone world by Tom Sweterlich, it’s kind of like a crime detective story mixed with existential horror.  interesting that you read Lecarre, they have a stage play performance of one of his novels currently touring in the UK spy who came in from the cold.
