Our elections are a winner take all system. The political parties are corporations not publicly owned organizations. Rank choice voting is trying to create space for alternatives, but the political party is still very dominant. Since citizens United in the Supreme Court billionaires can subvert the political parties but the parties are still very important for organizing on the local level.

The United States is also a one-party state but, with typical American extravagance, they have two of them.

The billionaires are who run the world. Of course they could subvert results. They definitely would. They do it with American Idol and all those other shows, so why wouldn't they do it with a big main show?
