A surprise for those who are on android.

I wonder why Google doesn't build it into android like Apple did on iOS? It's been years since I've been on android, but I actually used E speak when I was over there because it was nice and fast. The voice was terrible, but the speed was good.

Who actually owns eloquence, and who owned it in the very beginning? Was it originally part of Jaws?

It was originally eloquent technologies, then speechworks, then scansoft, then nuance/microsoft.

Monopolising and encouraging a subscription model for a TTS is certainly a choice. It would be like telling someone if you wanted to use this computer screen you totally can, you just need to be prepared to pay 30 bucks a year for it. One that hasn’t realistically had any substantial updates since the turn of the century at least. Fuck I hate these companies and you should too. Lol

I'm gonna rewrite this comment. Owning anything in today's economics is the exception rather than the rule.

Yeah I think the original version got like 3 updates through its lifetime and honestly that’s fine, I don’t imagine there’s too much you need to do for it ultimately. Anyway I’ve probably said all I really can here

I think the sample rate setting is turned off, but maybe if I turn it on and tweak the settings a little bit it’ll sound better. Thanks for the tip.

OK so they’re separate settings. I made sure the higher sample rate setting is off, then I went into the equalizer and turned up the ultra low to six. It sounds a bit better now.
