Most people here listen to their speech around 20 or 30%, nobody’s gonna even understand what it’s saying.

Nothing but eloquence for me

Same here, I am an Eloquence user myself, and I actually prefer it over the so-called natural voices that try to be intelligible, that’s the problem. We have taken a step back. Eloquence is definitely the most light weight and responsive. You also gotta remember that many of today’s so-called natural sounding voices use a ton of resources compared to back then. Many of those older synthesizers, especially from the 80s were based off of an actual formant based vocal tract. You really don’t see that anymore and it’s a shame.

I have to really be convinced if I’m gonna move away from it because as of right now, I have not seen anything that beats it personally, and this is coming from somebody who is a pro in speech synthesis technology

I started using eloquence in the 90s and it’s the best speech that isn’t sluggish or non-responsive like Alex is. Basically all these real sounding voices are the problem. Let’s get back to robotic speech. It’s a lot faster.

The problem is, because many of these companies have moved on to other methods of speech synthesis, we really don’t see any formant based synthesizers being built anymore. I really wish we did! The only development I’m seeing right now is tGSpeechBox, or the new Synfony tts that people can test the demo on windows right now.

Hey you should put that DECtalk impersonator out on here. LOL

Lol You actually get both hybrids of both synthesizers on here. Adam is supposed to be similar to that of DECTalk, While Benjamin take some of those formant peaks inspired by Eloquence

Yes I did figure that. That's what reminded me of it.

Thanks. And I am sorry about that. I do try to keep the phone far away from my face, but then I’m also moving at the same time so thank you.

Well, in terms of the Amazon poly voices, they are available on an app called star client, star stands for speech to audio relay. And there is one specific server that has those voices and more. It has pretty much 1000 voices on it. Although due to the note to the new star, client update, there has been less, but it’s still there. Like due to the new star client server update that the one of the servers that the client runs on.

Oh wow, that’s good to know! Hmmm, I might try to play with that.
