Yes, back then you were a big deal if you happen to have your own phone line in your bedroom. nowadays practically everybody has their own phone even kids that are in kindergarten.

Well today's technology is always in our hands so we can talk or text to anyone anytime we want. Back then conversation conversations were so meaningful because you had long distance to deal with if it were someone out of town, but even if it were a free call people just stayed busier and they had to be at home and in front of the phone to talk to you. So it just meant more. Kind of like with music, the music was a lot more fun to listen to back when you had your cassette recorder and you had to wait for the top nine at nine to come on so you can record your favorite song. Now you can have your favorite song anytime you want it.

Well back in the day if something interesting happened in one of your friends lives, they would have to call and tell you about it. Now they can just send you a video and there's nothing really to talk about unless there's any drama in the video. I actually know people who will be sitting in the same room and will text each other instead of talking to one another.

The part that I still can't wrap my mind around is what happened to time? There are 24 hours in a day now, but there were also 24 hours in a day back then. However a lot more got done back then but yet people still have plenty of time for all the small stuff and other things that really matter. Nowadays people are doing a whole lot of nothing, yet there's not enough time for it. It's really crazy when you think about it.

I remember when the first unlimited long distance came out Sprint offered it and it was only on the weekends. Then you had the MCI neighborhood where you actually had to switch your phone service to MCI but you got unlimited long distance and I believe that was $59 for that. Then AT&T and all of the others came out with their own unlimited plans. But you also had third-party unlimited long distance providers like CNN where you would pay $29 or 49 depending on if you needed the toll-free access number and you can make calls that way too.

Long distance was such a scam, I used to work for this long distance company in Austin and they had these phones in Mexico. They would charge you four dollars a minute to call the US. pay phone
