I know it's done many times. I'm just putting it here to let people know that it's possible. The reason I'm not going with one chord only is... well... preference 😂 And it has to be the tonic and dominant—no other combinations. See how good we can make music out of that. And yes, again, I know it's possible.

Awesome, that sounds fun. When I was studying music in my first year, we were taking a composition class, and one of our first assignments was to create something using just three or four notes, mainly based on a triad. It was actually a really interesting exercise because it forced us to be creative with very limited material and to focus more on rhythm, phrasing, and how those few notes interact with each other. I would record something right now, but I have the flu and I can barely get myself up to do the necessary things. Otherwise, I’d probably try to put together a quick example just for fun.

Anything is allowed as long as you stick with alternating between the tonic and the dominant and back. Non chord tones are allowed, and as I said, 7th and 9th chords are allowed.
