This debate is so old! I think in the early days of both these mobile operating systems this was more fun to talk about, but they both have great pros and cons! That large gap is no longer prevalent today in 2026 regarding accessibility, but remember that I am simply stating an oppinion not a set of facts.

Now, adding on to my feedback, yes you want to get a version of android that is the most stock/stripped down version so that way you get the best talk back experience directly from Google. Each version of android is going to be tweaked according to how the manufacturer wants it to look and feel which could effect your accessibility experience with talk back, but with that I don't know how wide the gap is today because the main two companies it seems are Samsung android phones and pixel phones from Google.
