I have actually thought about this very situation before. It’s a tiny piece of the reason, other than personal preference, that I always do sighted guide by shoulder, instead of the arm. For whatever reason, that feels more impersonal to me lol. But, in any case, if I did encounter this situation, I would probably just switch back to walking beside them, and ask them to verbalize the directions.
