This definitely explains a lot as far as why Apple got behind accessibility so early on. If Steve Jobs had all this knowledge from being around other blind people, he obviously knew the importance to making an accessible product that we could use.
Something about joy bubbles that I never forgot from doing that interview is how nonchalant and matter of fact he was. One of the first questions I asked him during the interview was how did you get into playing around with the phone in the very beginning. He told me that it was one night his dad was in the other room beating the shit out of his mother and he was scared so he crawled into the table and just started playing around with the telephone. And that's what he told me about how it started in the very beginning. He really took me by surprise because I honestly wasn't expecting such a direct answer like that. I've interviewed a lot of people, and that was the first one that I was pretty much speechless for a few seconds and had to really think about what my next question was going to be.

Another story that he told me was about the day that he almost died. Evidently it was cold outside so his father had brought in a kerosene heater and put it in the house and then close the door. When the carbon monoxide took over the dog outside picked up on it and actually broke the window which woke up his father who was almost passed out from the gas and his father was able to get everyone out of the house. he was an extremely fascinating person to talk to if you were talking to him about phones or pretty much anything else.

At Gordon: as I’ve told you in the past, you really need to consider re-editing that interview you did especially since you can edit it so that instead of using your voice, that was all messed up, simply to repeat the questions and then edit the responses from Joy bubbles back into it sounds like it would really be a fascinating listen

Gordon: I also heard that story about joy, bubbles, abusive father, as well as the story about how he was sexually abused as a child by nuns I believe this is what inspired him to become a perpetual five year-old in spite of his extremely high IQ

Yes I need to get that interview to someone who is a better editor than I am and maybe they can go through it and clean it up a bit. If anyone is interested in the job, let me know when I'll gladly get it to you.

Gordon: if you were to sent me a copy of the Recording along with individual files of the question, you asked him spoken clearly I would then take it and try to fix it as a hocus side project and possibly have it ready by his birthday on the 25th

Additionally, I would need you to send me a recording of you introducing yourself the station you worked with and the date that you did the interview. Also the fact that it was the last interview Joe did before his passing.

Unfortunately the earliest I can get that to you would be Sunday because I'm not where that computer is at the moment but I will be then. But you're definitely welcome to it. There is a good two hours of content there.
