Ramon Salazar cloning people‘s voices on this app! Be aware!

So what exactly should Ramblio do that they haven't done already?

I wonder if it’s expensive to set up phone verification? You know like what Clubhouse does, WhatsApp and others. With the email addresses it’s too easy for a person if they’re banned to go get another email address, but phone number is a bit more difficult to change.

And of course if you’re doing phone verification you block out VOIP services so they can’t go get TextNow and Google Voice numbers.

I think that would be a great idea, with phone numbers it'll be much harder.

Yeah but you still need to pay for the number and each text costs money. And we haven't even gotten into the international side of things. This is only for the United States that I’m talking about. I have no clue how things are ran in the UK

Banning an IP address isn’t really all that effective because people can just use a VPN. If phone number verification is possible the only other suggestion I could come up with is to charge users a one time $.99 fee through the App Store in order to get on Ramblio. It’s a pain in the ass to create a new Apple ID, put your credit card number in there and all that stuff. So that would stop this real quick.

How about better stricter verification process? Golden goose But, he can not be using peoples voices because people may fall for his ruze and give him their personal information. That can't happen.

I'm all for making users pay a small one-time charge.

We have all kinds of scams that happen in this area using AI. I did a new story several months back where parents were getting calls and their own kids voices asking them to send the money because they were in jail, had been kidnapped and all kinds of things. And these are really just scammers cloning their voices in the parents fall for it. so this definitely is a real thing that can happen to people. Most of us who have been out here for a while no better, but they could really take advantage of a new user.

Oh you want a good scam with AI? Most banks had to pull their voice recognition software because people were cloning AI voices and calling the bank and getting through voice authentication

Yes, it looks like one of the moderators get the account already. I’m not sure if anyone else did, but I reported it.

Honestly I think it's about time to get the authorities involved. I mean it's one thing to be a little pain in the butt like apparently this dude has been, but now you're crossing into very illegal territory.

It seems to me, that if discord channels can make it so that users cannot post to the channel until they've been a member for X amount of time, maybe Ramblio should implement something similar. Maybe there should be a cooling off period. For new accounts. Perhaps For two or three days after signing up, you will only be able to listen to posts, and not be able to interact outside of perhaps following people. Perhaps that would deter spammers if they knew they would have to cool their heels before in acting mayhem.

He crossed into a different territory Casey today!

Well the authorities really wouldn’t care anything about this because they have much bigger fish to fry. So you have to basically put up deterrence and handle mmmmm well the authorities really wouldn’t care about something like this because they have way bigger fish to fry. So you basically have to come up with your own deterrent to make it more difficult. That’s why I suggested the one time $.99 price because it’s pretty damn hard to create a second Apple ID just to go talk shit on an app. Or not make an account live until the moderator has heard the voice behind it.

Hey Casey, Thank you for your comments. I have been told many times by the moderation team that it's incredibly difficult to do anything legal against this guy because he's in another country, in the Middle East. It's different now. However, because you're taking people's identities and using them to exploit. Information can be shared unknowingly to a hacker or a person using social engineering Yes, but at the same time, I don't know fully I cannot say with 100 percent certainty that he would not collect a person's information, such as their telephone number or something of that sort. He has already utilized Matt Cooper's voice and cloned it! It's different now in my opinion, but I understand the complexities of law enforcement and I agree that they probably won't do **** in his country! especially that he's blind!

I will say, that as simply a user, it is easy to forget all the small cogs that move behind the scenes to keep this app going. And I think it is important to remember that the moderation team is limited in capacity as to the things they can and can't do. What the moderation team can do is take the suggestions, constructive that is, back to Josh I assume, and maybe he with the coding and developing background can implement some of the ideas that we present.

Hey Dale, thank you very much for your comment that you just left. I really do like that idea as well regarding the two dollar payment. I think that would make it a lot harder for this character to create accounts, but y’all could discuss that if you guys are willing to. At least it’s one idea that came out of all this! Something is better than nothing! Again, I also wanted to thank you and the moderation team as well as the app developer Josh for doing such a great job. I hated that we had to discuss this in this manner with all these comments, but as you can see, Safety is a big thing and people‘s personal information is very important to them as well as I think you understand that as well! Anyways, thank you again for the discussion in the honest feedback.

Anytime you hear an account out here that sounds like it might be suspicious, be sure to check the profile. In the case of Matt Cooper if it’s really truly his account you’re gonna find almost a year of posts that he’s made. The account yesterday only had one single post. That’s usually a dead giveaway every time and that can serve as your safety net to make sure that you’re hearing from the actual real person.

@Gordon I wish I could edit the "count posts" suggestion into my advisory post from last night.

to the moderators or developers, he used to use proton mail as an email client. not sure if this will help or not.

Thank you again very much as well Josh for your great comment! Also, you’re doing a great job and I’m sorry if the original rebel came off as a little pushy, but it was just in the moment and people were just worried about their safety, including myself that’s all! It was great intentions trust me. Ramble
