Glad that there’s a dedicated team managing the community dictionaries over there! But yeah, when reading operating systems, like iOS or macOS, there’s currently a bug present where it tries to pronounce them like whole words, which I’m sure somebody can address in the issues section on GitHub. You could also suggest new entries if anything needs to be added as well, which I’ve contributed a whole lot of them last November.

Yeah, you should give it a try. It does fix a lot of necessary pronunciations. When it comes to operating systems though, something happened when one of the recent ones were compiled, just letting you know. These are ran on GitHub, so I’m sure that can be fixed since they are updated monthly. I personally have the community dictionary turned on.

By the way, I wanted to let you know, personal voice really does drain a lot of your battery intensively. That’s why I’m not doing a personal voice of my own.

I’ll tell you something that definitely did break in vocalizer, the way that the word, characters, is spoken. It also happens in the word, clarity. It’s no longer pronounced correctly like it used to.

Maybe that was Tru back in the day in some Betas I think. I don’t know, but I know a lot of the voices do take up a lot of storage, which can be CPU intensive, depending on the voice. Also, have you tried the community dictionary option with eloquence?

I just think Vocalizer sounds very dry compared to something like Eleven Labs.

But the thing is, I never like vocalizer in general in the first place. Also, they didn't have my native language until iOS 15 or 16... I don't remember exactly when they added my language, but the voice is trash!

I don't think personal Voice has the bug.

You are correct. Samantha is vocalizer. Eloquence is light on resources because it doesn’t use a large database of recordings.

Nope, you’re not the only one. That issue annoyed me so much with iOS 13 through 15 that I was so glad they added eloquence with iOS 16. That one I can definitely tolerate! At least it doesn’t spell out anything at all, and tries to at least pronounce it as best as it can.

Even Samantha is affected too. Not sure how anyone can stand that voice in general, but yeah.

I've noticed as of late when I use the Samantha voice my battery drains quicker and the phone actually gets a little warm. Samantha used to be one of the most efficient voices on the iPhone. So now I either use Alex or eloquence. And I have always used the Samantha compact voice, and it's never heated up my phone until the past six months or so.
