As far as social media platforms go, I already have lots of choices, both free and paid. Most of them are places where I earn my income, so I’m not lacking options to build an audience. But even if this platform ever went behind a paywall, I’d be willing to pay something for it because, to me, it’s not just another social app. This is where I feel a real connection with other blind people, something I don’t have much of in real life. And since this app is centered on audio, the culture is completely different in a good way. If contributing a little helps keep this community alive, then I’d be happy to do that. I also agree with Taylor about having a premium version and a tip jar so people who want to support the platform can do it, while those who can’t or prefer not to can still enjoy some features. As I’ve said before, there are a few hangouts here that don’t feel very welcoming to me, but that’s just an observation, not a complaint. When I don’t like something or someone, I usually just ignore it and move on.

unfortunately, in this type of environment, you can’t, please everybody but Josh is doing an amazing job with this app. I say if you don’t like what you hear then scroll on by.

Me and the block button are best friends. I'll stand up for people when it's needed like when someone puts people down for how they have their phone set up or something, but then I block and move on. I love this app. I've been missing audioboo for so long Vorail never clicked with me, but "i am really enjoying this app and the fella who's developing it deserves the credit. I'm looking forward to seeing where things go in the future.

Good post. However, no matter how we try to analyse or dissect the problems, it is importwbt to realise that this is the nature of the beast. Any event or product that involves people is going to attract complaints. Whether it is two, or 2000 people. If you attempt to facilitate anything between random people, issues are likely to arise. Here, we have an open forum for people of all shapes and sizes, ages, locations, genders etc to gather and converse. Not every one is going to get along. So, it is importantly to have good people and good complaint management processes in place. Certainly, it shouldn’t have to be one person to take on every single person’s feedback. As others have said, people need to be aware and utilise tools that are available to them to self regulate. Not every issue requires daddy’s intervention Nevertheless, I am sure the majority of people on this app are more than grateful to you and the developer and appreciate this app

Now the one thing that makes this app a little different from all of the other places where you can get free social media is that this app is always going to be accessible to us. We're never going to have an update that breaks something for two weeks that we can't use. And that in my opinion is a good reason to pay for something like this.

Yes, I've never understood why some blind people feel that all the stuff should be free. They pay for their lattes and their mocha is at McDonald's, they paid to upgrade their iPhones on a yearly basis, they have all the other bells and whistles that they might want. And there's a fairly large number of the same blind people who would leave this app if it ever went premium, but yet they live on DoorDash deliveries.

Well basically there is no free lunch in this world. This app is here and it's free because Josh is able to financially make that possible himself at this point. So to him this app isn't free because there are costs that he occurs.

Yes, people should use the block button and then the report button if the blocking feature doesn't fix their issue. Or the report button if rules or laws are being broken. But everyone should refer to the block option first.

The best thing to do in the beginning in my opinion is to have a way for people to donate who wish to support the app. If that isn't working and if you still need money to sustain yourself, then look into various premium options. If a paywall ever did go up for this app, most people that are out here will disappear. There will be people who pay for it, but the numbers are going to definitely dwindle. With Varell it was free for a good while and people became used to that and people also became used to the high volume of people out there. Once it went premium the volume went way down and it's just not as fun anymore.

Some people who have their own personal agendas have criticized Tom are throughout the years for not doing more to please everyone on Varell, but also take note Vorail has been around for 10 years and is still there and people were willing to pay for it when it went premium. And one of the main reasons for this is because people use the mute feature on Pharrell when they encounter things that they can't handle or things that upset them or things that trigger them and so on.
