    Never heard the term "keyboard thug" before so I don't know exactly what it means, but my main reason for texting is that it is both less disruptive and more efficient for many tech questions. Voice messages are also an option for complex issues that don't become as disruptive. Actual voice connections are disruptive compared to both of those because they pretty much require everything else to stop. If it takes me 1 minute to read a text or voice message and 1 minute to reply either way, a voice call for the same thing would still usually exceed two minutes by far and must happen all at once. In the messaging case, if you send it at 4:00 but I'm in a meeting until 4:15, I can answer by 4:20 instead of us trying to work out a time to connect before 5. :)

    I happened to read your comments out of order lol. For getting to know someone, I probably would agree that voice is better. I've been wondering if I know you from another semi concurrent context btw; if that baffles you, probably not; if you think TT, I probably do.

    I go with whatever the required moment that's TOTALLY UNPLANNED might be of either communication level, though I WILL SAY that ESPECIALLY when introducing myself to women for a hoped-for romantic hookup and we've happened to meet on any of the online or app platforms where there's the convenient capacity to share my over 18,145-character-written-long personal bio that accurately serves as ESSENTIALLY my MAIN, if not SOLE, option of introduction, due to its nature of the content therein that tends to ACCURATELY detail ALL that there is, SO FAR, to transparently define myself, OPTIMALLY, as opposed to VERBALIZING, WORD-for-WORD, AS MUCH, IF NOT ALL, that I've typed, I'D rather prefer to be DELIBERATELY LAZY ENOUGH to go the TEXTING route.

    ANOTHER convenience of selectively choosing to text is the capability of copying and pasting, ESPECIALLY if such of which that's duplicated is a conversation between either ME or WHOEVER ELSE and ANOTHER/OTHERS that I'm sharing the content of WITH, instead of manually quoting who said what, MYSELF, AGAIN, because I'm purposely lazy, which is EXACTLY what I DESERVE to be, ANYWAY.

    Email = business. Text = check-in/casual chat. Talking = family/romantic partner/medical matters/boss/ particular colleagues. Of course, these are preferences, not anything etched in Stone. (I.E., business, depending on the depth, often moves to talking. Family/romantic partner, depending on efficiency, often switches to text.) I love having options!

    The monotony of verbally dictating to whoever's writing what I'm saying that needs me to keep repeating until he/she FINALLY GETS IT CORRECT is what I ABSOLUTELY DETEST, which is why TEXTCHATTING, AT CERTAIN TIMES, TOTALLY AVOIDS ALL of that for me, and of COURSE, VERBALIZATION, at CERTAIN OTHER TIMES, can be as equally advantageous, TOO, over TEXTING, which is one of countless other ways of "having my cake and eating it, too.

    Well I guess this transforms the question I asked from, do you mean everyone who prefers text has a confidence issue, to, do you believe everyone who prefers text is using it as a security blanket? No need to answer if you don't want to of course, but I claim that this is provably not true, just using the tech community as a demonstrative case. In the tech community, it is recognized as being the superior method of handling many issues. Efficiency improvement does not a blanket make. :-)

    I definitely prefer talking over texting. Texting does not present the proper tone, especially dependent on the things we're talking about.
