Your iPhone 17 will come with a USB type C to type C cable instead of a lightning cable like you're 12. I'm not sure how old your USB wall is, but it could be USB type a to type C on your phone, that would charge much slower. If it's a newer set up then it might have USB type C ports built into it. But you can definitely buy USB type a to type C chords. I would still recommend the 20 W charger from Apple. It's USB type C all the way and has built-in protection for your battery that your USB wall might not have. It's OK to use the USB wall and a situation where you might need to, but I would really use the wall charger more if I were in your position.

I never had the iPhone 12, but I'm assuming that it came with the same cable that the iPhone 13 which I did have came with which was a USBC to lightning cable. So your USB wall obviously has a USB type seaport. I still prefer the chargers from Apple because I'm not necessarily sure about those aftermarket USB walls and what kind of battery load protection they would offer and so so forth.

I agree with the others. You'd be far better off getting the charging block and plugging that into your regular outlet. Faster charge and better for your battery.

Get USB C charging brick to plug into your wall outlet.
